I'm a walking disaster!

As if falling down a flight of stairs last weekend wasn't enough, I've now hurt my knee. It just "popped" when I sat down Saturday night in a direction that obviously wasn't good. I spend Sunday hobbling around and today it's still very tender. Ugh......these things come in 3's so who knows what else I'm going to do to myself!!! LOL

Since the mini reunion with my high school friend, she encouraged me to join facebook to keep in touch. Well, now I've discovered many more friends from high school on facebook and it's awesome!!!! Of course everyone is writing on my wall!!! Ha ha ha NOW I know that when someone writes on your wall, everyone can see it too LOL.

If you haven't joined facebook, you should check it out. It's a great way to connect with friends and keep in touch!

Staples Coupon!

On the way home from work I thought about asking Staples to see if they'd donate some envelopes for the cards for the soldiers. When I got home I had an email that was almost as good! It's a coupon for $25 off a $75 purchase. Well, 250 envelopes cost $25 so I'm going to purchase 3 boxes and basically one of those will be free with this coupon! This coupon can be used in the store, online, or on the phone. Would love for anyone to purchase envelopes (invitation size) and send to me but feel free to use the coupon however you'd like. Here's the coupon!

Here's my address if you want to ship me envelopes for the soldiers:

Mini Reunion

I received a weird email on Wednesday this week that said "let me know if you receive this email" So I thought....hmmmm.....spam.....weirdo...maybe someone for Scrapping for Soldiers....or what!?!?! So I replied back "Yes, I received the email" and that's all I said. The next day I get this really long email from my friend Cindy in high school - wow, I'm SOOOOO glad I decided to reply to that email!!! We emailed a few times and found out she lives about 3-4 hours from me. Well, just so happen her and her husband were going away this weekend and it's about an hour from our house. So we decided on the whim to meet!!!! Yes, a mini reunion before the reunion in October!!!!

We met at a restaurant at the mall (nice mall!) and it was great! We caught up on what's been happening and had a chance to meet each other's spouse. We had a great time and decided we need to get together again! I'm hoping after our mini reunion, Cindy will decide to come to the class reunion next month - fingers crossed!!! :-)

It was great reminiscing with you Cindy and I can't wait to talk more!!!!!

Cards to Iraq

A few days ago I was contacted by Lisa from Iraq. She told me about one of the firefighters at their base that is missing his wife because she was pregnant and about to give birth to their baby soon. She wanted to cheer him up and went searching on the internet and found the Scrapping for Soldiers website and contacted me.

Lisa's email inspired me to keep collecting cards and to continue to make more cards. Here's a blurb from her email that brought me to tears.

Trust me ... the handmade cards are a BIG hit out here! One of the fire-fighters has a wife at home and she's expecting a little girl any day now. He was a little "down" on Monday and that's what made me go searching for your website. I have a card (from Afghanistan) and it's a "WELCOME HOME BABY" card so I showed it to him and told him we would all sign it and send it to his wife once the little one arrives. He couldn't believe it... He asked where in the world did I get the card!!?? I told him it traveled millions of miles from the USA to Afghanistan and then to Iraq... Just for his new baby. You should have seen the look on his face!

This is what it's all about. You have no idea how many hearts you touch when you are crafting these mini works of art. The love you put into making the cards, then the love we put inside of the cards when we write ... To our families back in the USA these are the things they will remember for a life-time.

I was so excited to get her email and couldn't wait to send them some cards!!! Of course, I have thousands of cards at my house because we just started collecting cards for Soldiers Angels. Well, instead of sending themto Soldiers Angels to distribute, we're going to send them directly to Iraq to Lisa's base and also to my friend Julie's son's platoon when they deploy in November.

Ladies, this is what it is all about! I hope to have some pictures to post of Lisa's base and the men and women we're adopting to send cards to. I can't wait for them to receive the first box!!!

Scrapping for Soldiers crop - awesome!

On Saturday we held another Scrapping for Soldiers crop. We've been organizing these crops for a year (this is the 4th one here in Maryland) and to date have raised over $12,000 nationwide. That equates to over 1200 phone cards for our soldiers!!!!! How cool is that!?!?
Not only were we raising money for phone cards during this crop, but we were working towards our greeting card goal so we can send them to our deployed soldiers (you can read more about the greeting card challenge here). We definitely exceeded the 1,000 greeting card goal and are now working on a new 5,000 greeting card goal by December 31st. I'm very excited about this and I'm receiving support from several ladies, but could use more support! If you'd like to participate, please mail cards (with envelopes) to me at:

I want to thank everyone that attended the crop this weekend and those that are helping with the card challenge. You ladies ROCK!!!!

Thank you for your continued support for our soldiers!

A Day of Reflection and Remembrance

On this day, we remember those that sacrificed themselves to save others and those that were lost. Please keep our soldiers in your prayers as they continue to fight for our freedom.
We will never forget.....

Meet Dusty!

John and I went out in Tropical Storm Hanna to do some errands and while we were out I mentioned going by the Humane Society to look at kitties. Well, after holding almost all of them, I picked one out that I just adored and he adored me (and of course John too!). So I filled out the adoption papers (boy they asked for all kinds of history including our cat history!). He was microchipped, fixed, and given his first shots already so we brought him home......he was named in the first hour because he kept going under our big wall unit where no one else can fit and finding all kinds of lost kitty toys and dust! Hence the name Dusty :-)

The other 3 boys aren't sure what to do....fritz keeps sniffing his butt, scrappy keeps hissing at him, and digit was okay yesterday but this morning he started with the hissing (I guess he forgot Dusty was here!). This morning Dusty got to eat the entire can of wet food himself because the big boys were scared of little old Dusty. This afternoon Digit decided he was hungry so he hissed a few times but Dusty wasn't budging - he wanted that food and so did Digit so they ate together....awwww.....John got a good picture of Dusty sleeping with me. Dusty was curled up under the blanket with me with his back feet up over his head - what a nut he is...but was sound asleep :-)

Here's a few pics of our new little man....isn't he the cutest!?!?!
