Mini Crop and more!

Yesterday myself, Debbie, and Sam had a crop at Debbie's house and had a great time! Not only did we eat alot but we also had an outing in the middle of the crop - we went to michaels to use our 40% off our ENTIRE purchase! WOOOHOOOO! It was like Christmas! We were in the store for 2 hours...hehhehehe.....but got some awesome deals. The workers at Michael's weren't happy with us because it was a misprint coupon but they were honoring it :-)

I ended up making 35 cards for the soldiers during our crop, which was fun! I'm still working on more cards for the soldiers so we can not only meet, but exceed the 1,000 cards I'd like to send to Soldiers Angels to distribute to deployed soldiers.

As a side note, I'd like to give a shout out to my parents who celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary yesterday. You are truly an inspiration!

Baseball Game

I went to my first baseball game Friday night! Well, it wasn't the major leagues - it's more like the minor leagues but it was alot of fun! They built a stadium about 15 minutes from our house and I got free tickets for organizing a crop for the American Society of Military Comptrollers. Our seats were right behind the dugout too - awesome! There was always something going on in the stands or on the field when the players switched from the field to batting. We ate messy food and cheered them on (even though they lost). I told John I'd like to go again. The season is almost over this year, but we're planning to go next year for sure. Go Blue Crabs!

Award - What a surprise!

I received a nice surprise today when I got home from work. There was a package from Soldiers Angels and inside there was an award for me! How cool is that?!?!? It feels nice to be honored by Soldiers Angels for all the support we have gave them from the Scrapping for Soldiers crops. So I'd like to share this award with everyone that has attended or contributed in some way for a Scrapping for Soldiers crop - YOU ROCK!

To find out more about Scrapping for Soldiers, visit our website. To find out more about Soldiers Angels please visit their website.

The next Scrapping for Soldiers crop is planned for Saturday, September 13th in Lexington Park, MD. I hope to see you there!!!

Digi Scrappin' Weekend

Well, I spent the weekend working on some digital photobooks for gifts since my photobook links are expiring at the end of this month.

I'm so excited about these photobooks! Here's a few pages from the books....

I did one book for my parent's 40th anniversary (which is next year so I have to hold onto this book until then). I did one for John - an ABC book. I used pics of when he was younger and more recent pics. I did an ABC book for me the same way. Those books will be from "santa" for us this Christmas. :-)

Card Challenge - Support Our Soldiers!

I am issuing a challenge to everyone and I want YOU to participate!!!!

I would like to send 1000 greeting cards to Soldiers Angels by September 19th to be distributed to our deployed soldiers. These greeting cards can have messages inside to the soldiers or blank (any occasion - thank you, thinking of you, celebrate, birthday, mother's day, sympathy, thanksgiving, easter, etc, etc etc) to be used by them to mail cards home to their family and friends.

My challenge to you is to create as many cards as you can for the soldiers and give them to me by September 19th. The cards can be as simple or complicated as you'd like to make them. For those attending the September 13th Scrapping for Soldiers Crop we will be making Christmas cards for the troops during the crop as a make and take. I want to give Soldiers Angels enough time to have them sent to the troops to receive them in time for the holidays. For the Christmas cards, I would like to have messages inside all of them for the soldiers. If you include your contact information (name, address, email address) sometimes you receive a response from the recipient of your card, which is a nice surprise.

The person that creates the most cards will receive a $20 gift certificate from me to use for I Remember When, Top Line Creations, or Scrapbook Girl. How's that for an incentive?!?!?

For anyone that wants to mail the cards to me, please email me for my address.

Whether you send me 1 or 100 cards, I'd love for you to participate so we can show our support for the troops deployed overseas!!! When sending the cards to me, please make sure to include envelopes for each card, but don’t seal them so Soldiers Angels can include phone cards inside the envelopes :-)

So who's up for the challenge?!?!? Let me hear from you!!!!

Thanks for supporting our soldiers!
Kristie

Calvert Hospice Crop

I went to the Calvert Hospice Crop this weekend as a vendor and a scrapper. It was a small group of ladies so I spent most of the crop actually scrapping. I made 32 cards during the crop!!! WOOHOO!!! It was soooo much fun to make a bunch of cards. I like making them ahead of time for different themes then it doesn't take much effort when I need a card right away. I also made some extra cards to send to the soldiers overseas with messages and some blank ones they can use to send cards home to the friends and family.

Here's a few of the cards I made. Funny part is that I got tired of the scraps I had in my bag of scraps so I started asking others for scraps and got some new colors to work with. Hehehehehe

Crop this weekend and other things

I've been bad about posting lately...

  • work has been crazy!
  • just receiving a new computer at work today and I couldn't connect to several network things as well as missing software (but it works light years faster than my old one!)
  • Hospice Crop this weekend - going to scrap and vendor
  • John is sick (he's a whiny sick person too)
  • John has been snoring terribly lately (yep, when he's sick he snores and I don't get any sleep)
  • Sold 2 of our 4 used computers we're selling. Someone's looking at the laptop today and will hopefully buy it too! WOOHOO!
  • I've been in the scrapping mood lately but too tired at night to do it
  • Thinking about making more digital photobooks for Christmas.
  • Need to schedule our October vacation. We're going to Rhode Island for a family reunion/wedding at the beginning of October. I was thinking about the Poconos in NJ (never been there and heard it was nice). Just need to take the time to find a nice hotel that won't kill our wallet.
  • High School Reunion is coming up quickly - end of October! I'm in charge of memory boards and slideshow and only have a few pics!!! YIKES!
  • I can't believe it's been 20 years since high school...............

Designing fun

When we lived in Texas I did computer consulting and website designing full-time and loved it (I loved being my own boss too!). Since moving to Maryland I have continued my consulting business part-time and still service some of my Texas clients as well as my new Maryland clients. I love working with my clients!

Emil and Gloria are both alternative health therapists and they've been talking about doing a website for about 5 years now....seriously the past 3 years and this week they bit the bullet and finally sent me information to start building their website.

I've been slowly adding information as they send me the text. It's so much fun to design a website and they are tickled pink to see it as it develops! Thought I'd share what I have so far (the design is constantly changing though). Click here to see it (it's in a hidden spot but will eventually be at www.vibrationalhealingcenter.com).
